WATERBURY, Conn. (WFSB) — A fatal car crash early Sunday morning left one man dead and another in critical condition, prompting an ongoing investigation by the Waterbury Police Department.

At approximately 2:15 a.m., officers responded to reports of a two-car collision at the intersection of Baldwin Street and Lounsbury Street.

Each driver was alone in their vehicles at the time of the accident.

The younger driver, later identified as Jayden Gonzalez, was transported to a local hospital but succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.

He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The 32-year-old driver, whose identity has not been released, remains hospitalized in critical but stable condition.

In addition to the two vehicles involved in the collision, two other unoccupied vehicles were struck during the impact and sustained damage.

No further injuries were reported.
