Hyderabad: With many people expressing concern over possible violation of their privacy in the ongoing caste survey in the state, CPI MLA Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao wanted the state government to withdraw unwanted questions from the survey.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the CPI state secretary wanted the state government to clarify the concerns of the people. While the caste census was welcomed, it would be wise to limit questions to relevant issues, he said.

Lately, cyber crimes have increased and cyber criminals have been scamming crores of rupees. In this context, if mobile phone numbers, bank accounts, Aadhaar details collected during caste census were accessed by criminals, it would pose a threat, the CPI MLA pointed out.

“It has come to our attention that unnecessary details are being collected in this survey. In a few places, households are also asked about party affiliation,” said Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao, recalling that the courts had also given directions to ensure confidentiality and there was no need to disclose them.
