In a significant crackdown on cross-border drug trafficking, CIA personnel from the Amritsar police station seized 2 kg of heroin and detained three persons. The names of the suspects have not been released due to ongoing investigations into their connections.

Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said preliminary investigations revealed that the arrested persons were in contact with drug traffickers in Pakistan, using social media applications to coordinate drone-delivered contraband.

“Acting on specific information, Staff-1 CIA arrested the trio from Dana Mandi near Bhagtawala while they were traveling on a motorcycle, which was also seized. Disclosures by the suspects led to the recovery of the contraband,” the CP said.

A case has been registered under the NDPS Act at the C division police station here.
