ExpressVPN now protects you against identity theft – and you can get it for free

Users of this the best VPN app can now secure its online identity with a new suite of security tools – and it can be yours without spending a dime.

ExpressVPN just released Identity Defender, a security suite that includes three distinct solutions: an identity theft alert, cyber insurance, and data removal service. These tools are only available for the US market at the time of writing.

Starting today, October 30, 2024, the ID suite comes free with the full-featured VPN for all new customers who sign up for ExpressVPN’s new 2-year plan. More availability is expected to follow suit.

The need for better identity protection

Identification alerts is a personal information monitoring tool. It is performed regularly dark web scans, verifies your data, along with real-time Social Security Number (SSN) monitoring to protect against potential financial fraud. Alerts also include any changes to your address and email forwarding.
Identity theft is an Assurant-backed cyber insurance plan that offers up to $1 million in identity theft coverage and assistance in restoring stolen accounts. Data Removal regularly scans the web to tell you which data brokers and people finder websites hold information about you. It then helps you request the deletion of all collected data.

How to get ExpressVPN Identity Defender

As mentioned earlier, Express has released its new Identity Defender suite for US users only at this time.

Parsons told me that this is mainly due to the nature of the product – the United States is one of the countries with the highest number of victims, according to Statistics – along with the US being the supplier’s largest market.

At the time of writing, Identity Defender is also limited to new users in the US before rolling out to all subscribers in the United States. Currently, the provider does not have an exact date for when this will take place.
