Wash Post says Harris’ coverage of Biden’s cognitive decline is part of why Democrats lost: ‘Credibility issues’

The Washington Post editorial board said this week that Vice President Kamala Harris’ cover-up of President Biden’s mental decline is one of the reasons his party suffered major defeats on Election Day.

IN A published editorial On Friday, the board argued that Harris and the White House’s constant denial of Biden’s mental acuity problems destroyed the party’s “credibility” and Americans voted accordingly.

The op-ed began by criticizing Harris for denying special counsel Robert K. Hur’s assertion in February that Biden is “a nice, well-intentioned older man with a failing memory.” Hur did the assessment in his report in his investigation into the classified Biden documents.

“Vice President Kamala Harris did not call special counsel Robert K. Hur’s report ‘gratuitous, inaccurate and inappropriate’ when it came out in February. She claimed it was “clearly politically motivated” and challenged his integrity,” the newsroom recalled. , providing an example of how far prominent members of the Democratic Party would go to hide Biden’s health problems.

“Speaking to reporters, Ms. Harris reacted angrily: ‘The way the president’s behavior was characterized in that report could not be more wrong,'” the board wrote, adding that “Mr. Hur has been vindicated repeatedly during the intervening nine months. .”

The editorial continued: “It is now almost universally recognized that Mr. Biden should not have sought a second term, but the Democratic establishment denied the obvious and supported him politically, even as the evidence of his decline mounted.”

The party only admitted the truth when Biden’s debate performance forced it, the board explained, arguing that this late about-face revealed the Democrats’ credibility problems with the American people.

“Democrats have tried to make fidelity to science, facts and truth their hallmark as a party. The White House’s aggressive cover-up of Mr. Biden’s decline has undermined that claim,” the editorial said, further describing the extent of the cover-up. .
