A 13-year-old Columbus girl who was abducted Friday morning and was the subject of a nationwide Amber Alert has been found safe, but the man accused of abducting her is still at large.

An Ohio Highway Patrol dispatcher confirmed Friday night that 13-year-old Mackenzie Hall was found safe around 6:19 p.m. in Springfield, about 45 miles west of Columbus.

Shane Smith, 48, the man accused of abducting her, is still at large. Columbus police said Smith’s 2004 Ford Ranger pickup truck was found abandoned in Springfield, but could not provide additional information. Dispatch could not reach a spokesman for the Springfield Police Department Friday night.

Hall, 13, was last seen Friday in the 400 block of South Huron Avenue near Westgate Park in the city’s Hilltop neighborhood when authorities say she was abducted by Smith, who is considered armed and dangerous.

Smith is described as a white male, 5-foot-11, weighing approximately 200 pounds, with green eyes and brown hair. Anyone who sees him is urged to call 911 immediately.
