New London police release new details on apartment complex shooting that left 2 injured, 1 dead

NEW LONDON, Ohio (WOIO) – The New London Police Department has released new information regarding the Windy Acres assisted living apartment complex.

19 News reported Friday that a resident of a New London assisted living facility has died after shooting two employees before turning the gun on himself, and the police release has additional details about what happened next in a statement Saturday.

According to the release, at approximately 10:52 p.m., Huron County dispatch notified officers of an active shooter inside the complex located at 96 Clifton St.

A New London officer responded to the scene along with two deputies from nearby Huron County, according to the release.

When the officer arrived at the entrance, he found the two injured victims locked in the main office.

The two victims escaped through a window and EMS transported them to different hospitals, according to the release.

The conditions of those victims are unknown, according to police, but they believe the injuries are not life-threatening.

Upon entering the building, officers said they found a dead man in the lobby, who was later identified as a resident of the complex.

The man died of self-inflicted gunshot wounds.

According to New London Police, a motive is still under investigation.

The names of the victims and the shooter are not being released at this time, according to the release.
