Mumbai: Amid the ongoing assembly elections, Mihir KotechaBJP candidate from Mulund assembly constituency, wrote a letter to the Chief Electoral Officer on Saturday regarding an attempt to breach his security and a potential threat to his life by three unidentified persons.
Kotecha also said in the letter that “his opponents are behind the incident” without naming anyone. He called for strict measures in this matter.
Pointing out that such actions violate the code of conduct and put his life at risk, Kotecha insisted on a comprehensive investigation and strict action against the three individuals to establish their intentions. In his correspondence to the CEO, which was also marked for senior police officials and the returning officer, Kotecha detailed an incident that took place on Friday while he was dining at a hotel in Mulund (West) with several members of team, after the end of the day’s campaign.
“Three suspicious persons arrived in a white WagonR and informed my security team that I called them and wanted to meet. When my security team asked, one of them mentioned his name Nitin Bhai. However, I did not call anyone to meet me,” said Kotecha. “I told my security team the same. I was shocked to learn how they knew where I was at that time. Despite their insistence, my security team sternly refused them entry and they left.”
Kotecha, who had earlier contested the Lok Sabha elections from the North-East constituency, also pointed out that he had been attacked several times in his earlier campaigns for the parliamentary elections. “My back office was also raided and more than two FIRs were lodged. I strongly suspect that my opponents (without naming anyone) are again trying to hurt, injure or attack me. They follow me and monitor my movements with the sick. intentions,” Kotecha added.
