Yoane Wissa struck twice as Brentford maintained their unbeaten home record with victory over Bournemouth in a chaotic end-to-end thriller in west London.

Twice the Bees went through on Saturday and twice they hit back, before Wissa converted one of the best team goals of the season so far to earn the hosts a 3-2 win.

However, as brilliantly as the Bees have been going, Thomas Frank will know his defense has been exploited far too easily at times and is yet to keep a clean sheet this campaign.

Brentford might be the fastest starters in the league, but it was Bournemouth who dominated early on.

Ryan Christie and Antoine Semenyo both went close early on, the latter drawing a strong save from Mark Flekken, as the Cherries pressed for an early opener.

And it really should have come from Marco Senesi, who somehow managed to fire over the bar from two meters in the 15th minute, but then Sepp van den Berg provided a gift the visitors couldn’t deny two minutes later late.

His errant backpass was intercepted by Evanilson, who rounded Flekken before slotting home to make it a third in as many games for the first time since January.

But the goal seemed to ignite the hosts. Vitaly Janelt went close six minutes later but in the 27th minute Wissa stepped up to equalize again.

Mathias Jensen sent in a long throw-in but Bournemouth couldn’t clear their lines after a shot at the front post, leaving Wissa free to float a lofted header past Kepa and into the back of the net .

Any fans who were late returning to their seats for the second half were perhaps unfairly punished by a five-minute flurry that saw both teams score in a scintillating start to the second half.

First, Justin Kluivert made it 2-1 after a superb one-two with Lewis Cook that exposed Brentford’s poor defending in the 49th minute before firing home at the near post.

Mikkel Damsgaard then went straight at the other end, latching on to a beautifully weighted ball from Bryan Mbeumo to equalize 60 seconds later.

Brentford then took the lead for the first time in this chaotic end-to-end thriller after a magical approach piece from Janelt, who played a wonderful dummy for Keane Lewis-Potter before firing one into the path of Wissa, who he beat Kepa contemptuously. with his ninth contribution in five home games in 58 minutes.

Christian Norgaard almost made it four in the 72nd minute from outside the box after sharper build-up, but this time Kepa saved the first effort, as he did for a Jensen effort four minutes later as the Bees piled on the pressure.

Andoni Iraola called for changes, but after the third goal Brentford asserted themselves in the game and after the whistle finally went after eight minutes of added time and Enes Unal’s header against the bar in the 97th minute, the Frank took another dramatic victory to continue his unbeaten start at the Gtech Community Fortress.
