Son stabs mother to death after dispute over moving to Canada, says ‘sorry’ to father after killing

A 50-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed to death by her son after she refused to let him move to Canada for work. The incident took place in Molarband village in southeast Delhi’s Badarpur area, police said on Saturday.

Police confirmed that the accused, identified as Krishna Kant (31), called his father Surjeet Singh (52) and asked him to come home after killing his mother on the evening of November 6.

When Singh reached home, Krishna told him “sorry” and directed him upstairs to see what he had done, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East) Ravi Kumar Singh was quoted as saying by PTI.

On reaching the first floor, Singh found his wife, Geeta, lying in a pool of blood with multiple stab wounds. During this time, the accused fled from the spot. Singh rushed Geeta to Apollo hospital where she was declared brought dead.

The police found the accused with a history of drug addiction

The DCP noted that Singh has two sons. Younger son Sahil Bholi (27) works in a bank, while Krishna Kant is unemployed and has a history of drug addiction. “Both the sons are unmarried and at the time of the incident only Geeta and the accused were present at home,” the officer said.

Later, Krishan Kant was arrested from the same area and a case of murder was registered against him, the officer added.

During interrogation, he admitted that he wanted to immigrate to Canada, but his family insisted that he get married first. On the day of the incident, an argument escalated, prompting Krishna Kant to stab Geeta with a knife he had bought earlier, according to the police.
