SANTA ROSA COUNTY, Florida (WALA) – A 69-year-old Crestview, Fla., man was killed and a woman was seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 10 in Santa Rosa County Friday afternoon, Florida said Highway Patrol.

The wreck, which also injured three other people, happened shortly after 4 p.m. on eastbound I-10 near mile marker 23.

According to the FHP, a sedan driven by a 75-year-old Milton, Fla. woman, a woman was behind an SUV driven by a 72-year-old Milton woman, both traveling in the outside lane of I- 10. The driver of the SUV slowed for other traffic that was slowing down, but the driver of the sedan did not slow down in time and crashed into the back of the SUV, troopers said.

The left rear passenger in the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene. A 64-year-old Crestview woman who was also a passenger in the SUV suffered serious injuries. Meanwhile, the driver and a third passenger — a 63-year-old woman, also from Milton — suffered minor injuries, according to the FHP.

The driver of the sedan suffered minor injuries, police said.
