Loved ones of Emilio Lee Vargas buried him Friday and vowed to keep his memory alive.

“My son was a good, loving person who took care of children, who took care of other people’s lives,” Dulce Banda said.

Emilio was among dozens at a party Sunday in the 7900 block of Chadwick.

“There was an argument before that in the back yard. At that point, a guy said, he was going to blow it up and he started shooting,” Joseph Hall said. “I was trying to get my people out of there and trying to get home safely.”

“I saw all the blood on the floor next to his car. That’s when I got scared and started crying,” said Emilio’s friend Gilberto Gonzalez Jr. “I couldn’t believe it, I thought it was a dream.”

“It’s really heartbreaking. Because when he died, he had things in the trunk that he just got for our baby,” said Delilah Winters.

She is pregnant with Emilio’s son and is due to give birth next month.

“It’s sad. But I know I have his family, his legacy will live on.” Delilah said. I want my child to know who his father is.”

“I want justice for my son,” said Dulce.

Emilio’s mother believes her son was targeted and says she won’t rest until his killer is caught.

“If I don’t catch you and find out who did this to my son, I’m the one who will get you,” said Dulce.
