The Saints Pro Bowler and key offensive player could miss Week 10 against the Falcons

The New Orleans Saints have dealt with a multitude of injuries throughout the 2024 regular season. Nothing will change when they meet Atlanta Falcons for the second time this year in week 10.

Saints ruled out four players, including two offensive starters, for the Nov. 10 matchup against the Falcons. But several key contributors to the Saints offense could be on the sidelines in the game.

On Friday’s injury report, the Saints listed Pro Bowl center Erik McCoy as questionable and running back Jamaal Williams as questionable. Both players are dealing with a groin injury.

The Saints opened up McCoy’s 21-day practice window Thursday. Since then, he has been limited in practice.

That’s the good news for New Orleans.

The bad news is that players who are listed as questionable are traditionally considered to have about a 25% chance of playing. Additionally, the number of players labeled “dubious” who actually dress for the game is likely an even smaller percentage.

McCoy hasn’t played since Week 3, when he suffered a groin injury against the Philadelphia Eagles. He’s getting close, but in all likelihood he won’t be on the field on Sunday.

It may not be Williams either. He was limited to practice on Wednesday and Thursday. Then he didn’t practice at all on Friday, which is never a good sign.

Including Williams, The Saints had seven players listed equally debatable on Friday. Defensive back JT Gray, cornerback Rico Payton, defensive tackle John Ridgeway, defensive back Will Harris, offensive lineman Shane Lemieux and running back Nephi Sewell were all in the news.

However, Harris, Lemieux and Sewell practiced fully on Friday. The other three players discussed — Gray, Payton and Ridgeway — were limited.

As expected, wide receiver Chris Olave will not play. He didn’t practice all week because of a nasty concussion he suffered in Week 9.

The Saints also ruled out fellow receiver Cedrick Wilson Jr., offensive lineman Lucas Patrick and rookie cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry.
