Pamlico County Educators Honored by Their District

PAMLICO COUNTY, NC (WITN) – Two East Carolina educators have been honored by their school district.

Pamlico Schools says Jodi Ipock has been named an Educator of Excellence for Children and Bertha “Cecy” Spivey has been nominated for the North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching Teacher of the Year Award.

According to the school district, “Ms. Ipock’s ability to foster inclusive learning environments and build strong partnerships with peers and families has had a significant impact, helping students thrive and inspiring everyone around her.”

Spivey is a second-year kindergarten through birth elementary school teacher in Pamlico County, the district says. She has been with the district since 2014, when she started as an instructional assistant and bus driver.

The NCCAT Beginning Teacher of the Year Award honors early career teachers who have demonstrated exceptional dedication, instructional practice and a positive influence on student achievement.

“Her appointment by Principal Savannah Alexander speaks to her outstanding impact creating a safe, nurturing and inclusive classroom environment that fosters significant growth for her students,” Pamlico County Schools said.
