A tragic domestic incident in Minnesota left five people dead in a murder-suicide.

A welfare check at two Duluth homes on Thursday found the bodies of four victims, including two juveniles, ages 15 and 7.

Duluth Police conducted a welfare check at a home along Tacony Street after the city of Superior asked them to check on one of their employees.

“The welfare check was initiated because of a Superior City employee who was concerned about another employee not showing up for work, and that was out of character,” Duluth Police Chief Michael Ceynowa said during the news conference. Friday press.

Inside the home were 47-year-old Erin Abramson and her 15-year-old son, Jacob Nephew. Police said the two died from gunshot wounds.

The “reporting person” told investigators about a person of interest, 46-year-old Anthony Nephew.

Police set up surveillance at Nephew’s home on West 6th Street.

A short time later, investigators learned that Nephew was married to Kathryn Nephew and both lived in the home with their son, Oliver.

A drone was sent in to search for the suspect.

Inside were Nepot’s wife and his 7-year-old son dead from gunshot wounds.

The nephew was also found dead. Police said the nephew died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Ceynowa said the nephew and Abramson were in a previous relationship and shared a child.

The grandson was known to have mental health issues, according to the police chief.

Ceynowa said he and the department were sending their thoughts and prayers to the victims’ families and loved ones involved in the “tragic event.”
