Woman, 68, found dead in freezer after hiring workers to help her with home maintenance

LAS VEGAS (KVVU/Gray News ) – A woman was found dead in her freezer and a person is under arrest in connection with her death.

Daniel Roush, 37, is facing charges after a woman’s body was found in a mobile home earlier this week, according to Las Vegas police.

The police said that received a call about a missing woman around 11:40 a.m. Wednesday. People in the neighborhood told them that their 68-year-old neighbor had suddenly disappeared and had not been seen walking her dog since late October.

Arriving officers said no one answered the front door of the mobile home at first, but once inside, they encountered two people acting suspiciously.

The police detained those inside the home for questioning, who said they did not know where the woman was from.

Officers searched the mobile home and found a locked freezer. Police called a locksmith to open the freezer, which revealed the woman’s body inside.

Roush, one of the people interviewed, was taken into police custody and charged with open murder.

Neighbors said the woman had lived in the mobile home park community for more than 20 years and had hired two people to help with some work at her home.

Neighbor Christine Marshall said she has known the woman for 20 years and that she is almost too kind and outgoing to strangers.

“She was very open about giving away too much information,” she said. “I told the cop last night, any crooks have had a real payday. He probably would have given them anything they wanted. She doesn’t deserve this.”

The two workers eventually began living in the woman’s mobile home, but when her medication was stolen, neighbors said that’s when they were kicked out.

Another neighbor said the woman told them a few weeks ago that she had expressed concern that the two workers might return and hurt themselves.

The woman’s identification, as well as the cause and manner of her death, remain pending from the Clark County Coroner’s Office.
