Man, 21, arrested for recent homicide in Birmingham

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – Birmingham police say a 21-year-old Trussville man has been arrested in connection with a Nov. 4 murder.

Amauria Caffey was shot and killed in the 1600 block of 5th Street North.

Malik Farris is charged with murder, first-degree theft of property and first-degree criminal mischief.

Police say the theft and criminal mischief charges stem from Farris’ actions after the shooting involving Caffey’s property.

A preliminary investigation reveals the shooting stemmed from an altercation earlier that day involving a member of Caffey’s family and a separate individual.

Farris is being held in the Jefferson County Jail without bond after turning himself in.
