The judge overseeing two cases involving the Apalachee High School shooting recused himself

The judge in the Apalachee High School shooting case recused himself because of this pending retirement.

The case was reassigned to Judge Sarah Griffie, appointed in August by Gov. Brian Kemp to serve as a Superior Court judge for the judicial circuit. Griffie was hired as an assistant district attorney in Barrow County in 2007 and served as chief deputy district attorney since 2016 before being appointed judge.

Currently, 14-year-old Colt Gray remains in the Barrow County Jail accused of killing four people during a shooting on September 4th. He was indicted on 55 charges. His father, Colin Gray, faces 29 charges for providing his son with a gun. Colin Gray remains in custody.
