LUMBERTON COUNTY, NC (WMBF) – An investigation has begun in Lumberton into the death of a man who was shot and killed Saturday afternoon.

Lumberton police officers responded just after 3:00 pm for a person shot near the intersection of NC Highway 211 and Saddletree Road.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man lying in front of his vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds.

The man was transported to an area hospital where he died from his injuries.

Detectives and crime scene investigators are investigating the incident.
