Heavy smoke, flames at facility on Bingle Road

HOUSTONThe Houston Fire Department is battling a two-alarm fire at a northwest warehouse Houston.

According to initial reports, the fire broke out around 3:10 p.m. in the 3300 block of Bingle Road near Bascom Street at a unit. Heavy smoke and flames can be seen from the building.

According to Brent Taylor, director of communications for the Houston Fire Department, firefighters tried to enter the building to put out the fire, but had some trouble due to the debris.

A second alarm was raised about 15 minutes later as smoke and flames continued.

Taylor said at least 100 firefighters are on the scene battling the blaze.

Officials said fire units are on the scene to investigate the fire.

Air and water quality in the area is being monitored and there are no indications that a shelter is needed.

Officials said the building is believed to be furniture stock.

Taylor added that a homeless camp is located near the fire and those people have been checked by authorities.

No injuries were reported.

It’s unclear how long firefighters will remain at the scene, but motorists should avoid the area.
