The LIRR will suspend service to some Queens, Brooklyn stations this weekend

The Long Island Rail Road will suspend service to several stations in Queens and Brooklyn this weekend for switch replacement, MTA officials said Thursday.

The LIRR will stop trains between Jamaica and Atlantic Terminal beginning at 9 p.m. Friday until 4 a.m. Monday, the MTA announced.

The last trains running on Friday evening will leave Jamaica at 20:44 and Atlantic Terminal at 20:51

Subway service will be available in lieu of LIRR trains to Atlantic Terminal, and subway stations will honor free LIRR tickets at Penn Station, Herald Square, Barclays Center, Fulton Street, Nostrand Street, and at Broadway Junction.

LIRR passengers can present LIRR tickets to station agents at each subway station.

Also, the MTA is not running J trains to Jamaica, C trains are not running and A trains are stopped at Sixth Avenue in Manhattan.

Also, beginning Monday, Amtrak’s work on the East River Tunnel will require the closure of two of the four tubes in Penn Station.

The work will divert two morning rush hour trains in Manhattan from Penn Station to Grand Central Madison. Other trains from Penn Station may adjust the schedule earlier or later by a few minutes, MTA officials said.

To allow for track maintenance, weekday service changes, with some skipped stops on Queens LIRR trains that began last week, will continue for one final day Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

On Friday, westbound trains will run non-stop from Jamaica to Manhattan, skipping service at Forest Hills, Woodside and Kew Gardens. Trains on the Port Washington line will still stop at Woodside in both directions.

Queens passengers can enter the subway for free at Sutphin Boulevard and Archer Avenue, Kew Gardens-Union Turnpike Forest Hills-71 Avenue and Woodside-61st Street.

The eastbound direction will be affected from next week.
