“Police responded to the area following a disturbance call at the inn on Wednesday afternoon, where they arrived to find the man armed and barricaded inside,” prosecutors said. “The barricaded man’s lodging was in progress at the time of the incident.”

The name of the man shot by police has not been released pending notification of next of kin. An autopsy will be performed by the state medical examiner’s office.

No civilians or police officers were physically injured, prosecutors said. There is no known threat to the public, prosecutors said.

No additional information is available at this time, including what time the gunfight ended.

The identities of the police officers who discharged their weapons will be withheld until they are formally interviewed by investigators, Formella’s office said.

Located between the Lake District and the White Mountains, the Federal House Inn was originally built as a farmhouse in 1835. The investigation is active and ongoing, authorities said.
