Person taken to hospital after crash involving vehicle and pedestrian in Tonbridge Road, Barming

One person was taken to the hospital following a crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.

It happened along Tonbridge Road in nearby Barming Maidstonelast night (November 6).

Police cars and ambulances were pictured at the scene near the Western Road junction after being called to the crash at around 8pm.

Resident Andy Fraser witnessed the aftermath and said the road was closed and closed overnight.

“You weren’t allowed to walk to the Tesco Esso garage, which had also closed early,” he said.

“The law enforcement officers were on the scene. There were a couple of ambulances and maybe three or four police cars. I hope everyone involved is OK.”

Over the years, Andy says he’s witnessed a number of accidents along the busy stretch of road.

“A common cause is cars heading into the city waiting to turn onto Western Road,” he added.

“Other drivers are on autopilot and before they know it, they’ve pulled into the waiting car.

“It’s also a blind spot coming off Western Road and that’s also caused accidents.”

A spokeswoman for the ambulance service said: “Crews assessed and treated a patient at the scene before taking him to Kings College Hospital for further medical treatment.”
