Shah Rukh Khan death threat: Man whose phone was used to make calls claims to have filed complaint against actor

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan received a death threat and a demand of Rs 50 lakh on November 5, in a call to the Bandra police station. The phone number was traced to lawyer Faizan Khan, who claimed he was duped as he filed a case against Shah Rukh Khan for a deer hunting dialogue from the 1994 film Anjaam.

Faizan Khan, a lawyer from Raipur, Chhattisgarh, claimed that his phone was stolen on November 2 and that he had already filed a complaint regarding the theft, claiming that the death threat was made by someone who had misused his phone.

During interrogation, Faizan Khan insisted on his innocence, saying that he had nothing to do with the threat call and that someone might be trying to frame him.

He further revealed an earlier complaint he filed against Shah Rukh Khan, alleging that the actor had promoted enmity between religious groups. The complaint, filed at the Bandra police station, refers to a scene from the 1994 film Anjaam in which Shah Rukh Khan’s character is seen informing his servant about the dead body of a deer in his vehicle.

Faizan Khan also claimed that Shah Rukh Khan might have links with shady elements, although no specific evidence was presented to support this claim.

Speaking to India Today, Faizan Khan said, “My phone was lost, I had already filed a complaint. Today Mumbai police came to my house and asked about the call. I told them that “I’m a lawyer, the phone was lost and I don’t know who called.”

He said he was questioned by police for over two hours and served. He also claimed that the WhatsApp linked to his phone number was accessed on another phone and not on the mobile phone that was stolen. He said the call was made using the SIM card inserted in the stolen phone and not through WhatsApp.

“I told the police that they should trace the phone that was used to make the call,” Faizan Khan said, adding that he was in court when the threat call was made.

On his objection to the dialogue of the film Anjaam, Faizan Khan said, “I have many friends from the Bishnoi community. They have 29 principles, including one that prohibits killing a deer. As such, if a Muslim makes such a comment, it can incite disharmony between two communities. That’s why I filed a complaint and asked for the film to be banned and an FIR registered.”

He also claimed that his phone was stolen just days after he filed a complaint.

Meanwhile, the Mumbai police are investigating the death threat to the Bollywood superstar. Police sources indicate that during the threat call, the caller asked to be identified only as ‘Hindustani’.

This incident comes soon after similar threats were made against actor Salman Khan by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang over rumors of the actor’s involvement in a black dollar poaching case.
