Liam Payne’s body has finally been taken home

Liam Payne’s body is finally being flown back to the UK from Argentina for burial today, sources have confirmed to Page Six.

The body of the One Direction singer has been detained in the country since he tragically fell over the balcony of his hotel in Buenos Aires and died on October 16.

He is taken home for the funeral by his devoted father Geoff Payne, who has been in the South American city with the singer’s bodyguard since the accident.

The release of his body was delayed over time toxicological tests were being completed.

Video by a local journalist claimed his casket was already on board a flight Wednesday, but Page Six could not immediately verify that information.

As Page Six revealed, the tests took longer than expected because the drugs the 31-year-old singer is believed to have taken before his death may have been laced with unknown substances, complicating the results.

A security source confirmed that Payne’s body was released this week from the forensic mortuary. A rep for the star was unavailable for further comment.

The singer, who battled substance abuse, will now be laid to rest after a service expected to be attended by his One Direction bandmates Liam Tomlinson, Niall Horan, Harry Styles and Zayn Malik.

Meanwhile, TMZ on Wednesday Police in Argentina reported that they had carried out a round of raids on the homes of two employees of the CasaSur hotel where Payne died, along with one of his other “friends”, as part of their investigation into who sold the singer the drugs .

As we revealed, Payne is believed to have befriended one of the cleaning staff at his hotel, who supplied him with drugs during his stay, leading to concerned friend Roger Nores to alert the CasaSur manager.

Law enforcement sources said TMZ Officers carried out the raids on Tuesday night as they searched workers’ lockers and reviewed security footage from the hotel.

Investigators are alleged to have identified Payne’s drug-dealing “friend” through text messages on his mobile phone – but he was not at home at the time of the raid.

Initial autopsy results showed Payne had “pink cocaine” in his system, a dangerous cocktail that typically combines methamphetamine, ecstasy and ketamine, as well as other narcotics.
