MADISON, Wis. (WFRV) – Authorities in Madison is searching for a driver involved in a fatal crash that claimed the life of a dog Wednesday morning.

The incident happened around 8 a.m. when a woman and her dog were crossing Highland Avenue at Kendall Avenue in the crosswalk.

A vehicle, turning south on Highland Avenue, failed to yield to them, striking and killing the dog, which was on a leash. The woman was unharmed.

One dead, another injured in Algoma 2-vehicle crash, case under investigation

The driver stopped briefly but left the scene, heading south on Highland Avenue towards Regent Street. Madison Police urge anyone with information about the driver or witnesses to the incident to contact them at (608) 255-2345.
