In order to improve the maternal mortality rate, the District Health Directorate organized, on Wednesday, at the Hamidia Hospital an orientation and training session regarding Ferric Carboxymaltose and Iron Sucrose Infusions.

The training covered doses, methods of administration, precautions and protocols related to Ferric Carboxymaltose and Ferric Sucrose. city ​​facility.

The session was addressed by Gandhi Medical College Dean, Dr. Kavita N. Singh; Director of Maternal and Child Health, Dr Aruna Kumar; Joint Director of Maternal Health Dr Archana Mishra; Dr. Anjali Kanhere; Dr. Gurpreet Nandmer; and Dr. Shabana Sultan.

The training focused on early identification of anemia during pregnancy, therapeutic management of anemia, types and causes of anemia, severe anemia and intravenous iron therapy.

The experts explained in detail the process of administration of ferric carboxymaltose and iron sucrose in cases of moderate to severe anemia. Dr Prabhakar Tiwari, Medical and Health Director, said that anemia is one of the leading causes of maternal mortality. Early registration of ANC (antenatal care), antenatal tests, high risk pregnancy clinics and Extended Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan specifically monitors anemia during pregnancy.
