Red flag warning as dry weather persists

Our last day of the work week will end with more sun and very dry air. Once again, we have a red flag warning posted for the region for high fire danger.

The difference between the actual afternoon temperature forecast in the 60s and the dew point in the 30s will be quite large, which means the relative humidity is actually quite low. This happens when the difference between the dew point and the temperature is the largest. Low relative humidity means much greater evaporation combined with a lack of rain will increase the risk of fire danger.

As a dry cold front moves through the region tonight, cooler air will arrive and leave us with below average temperatures for Saturday. Afternoon readings will reach near 50 degrees after starting in the 30s in the morning. Winds will still be a bit gusty in the afternoon and if you have field games you’re watching or playing in, just be aware of the cooler temperatures.

Sunday starts with plenty of sunshine, but clouds will be increasing as the weather system approaches from the west. Clouds will likely fill the sky by the end of the day.

By Monday morning, there will be several hours of shower activity, leaving anywhere from a tenth to a quarter of an inch of precipitation. This is a relatively small amount, but every little bit will help.

This weather system is moving fast enough that if there are showers when you wake up on Monday, Veterans Day morning. I think the sun will return in the afternoon with temps in the mid 60’s. It gets cooler after that with temps in the 50’s for much of next week.
