Neighbors want changes after the second fatal crash on the north side since October.

INDIANAPOLIS — Neighbors living along 30th and Fall Creek Parkway on Indy’s north side are calling for more safety measures following a fatal crash Wednesday morning.

“People will drive and drive into this tree. I have solved this before. I’m tired of fixing it, to be honest with you,” said Andrew Dranchak.

The orange reflector on a tree in the area is a vivid reminder of recent history.

On October 17, police said a crash between a car and a motorcycle killed a man.

“It is a dangerous road. I wish something could be done,” Dranchak added.

Then, less than a quarter mile away at 30th and Fall Creek Parkway, police say a man was killed.

“We’ve seen a lot of speed, so it’s not surprising that these accidents happen,” said Trevor Lucas.

Metro Police tracking data shows there have been at least nine crashes in the area since 2021, at least three of those details.

The Indy DPW says about 36,000 people drive through the area daily.

Neighbors say they just want people to take their time getting to their destination.

“Hopefully we’ll get more traffic lights and stop signs to reduce this and maybe save three more lives here next year,” Lucas said.
