Woman accused of stealing nearly $5,000 worth of items from Lululemon in Prudential Center

A woman was arrested after she allegedly stole 48 items worth nearly $5,000 from the Lululemon store in the Prudential Center on Saturday, officials said.

At 8:18 p.m., officers went to the shopping center on Boylston Street for a report of a theft in progress, according to a police report.

Officers were told a woman left the store with two black bags “concealing potentially thousands of dollars worth of merchandise,” the report said.

The suspect, identified as Kaitlyn Mclean, 37, was found at a nearby Dick’s Sporting Goods, the report said. As officers approached Mclean, she dropped “three bags loaded with Lululemon merchandise” and was arrested.

More than $4,800 worth of stolen merchandise was returned to the store, police said.

Mclean pleaded with the officers that he had “never stolen from Lululemon before and was never going back, he just needed some money,” according to the report.

A store employee told officers that Mclean was “a frequent shoplifter,” and police learned there was a warrant for Mclean’s arrest for theft, which was filed in Waltham District Court in December, they said the officials.

Mclean will also be charged with theft in Boston Municipal Court.

Police said the Lululemon store in the Prudential Center reported a series of thefts. Earlier this week, a Boston man was sentenced to two years in prison for stealing over $30,000 worth of merchandise from Lululemon stores in the Back Bay. In September, two women were arrested after allegedly shoplifting Over $750 worth of merchandise from Lululemon in Prudential Center.
