Police video shows 77-year-old gunman before being shot by 7 officers

In the newly released footage, an elderly woman is seen waving a gun forward being shot and killed by Oklahoma City police.

According to police, two related 911 calls came in around the same time on the night of Oct. 10. The first reported that a victim was driving when she was shot by a passenger and was later pulled over after running from the vehicle. The second call reported a woman whose car had crashed and was pointing a gun at a bystander who was trying to help her.

It’s unclear why the woman, 77-year-old Annette Prince, shot the 75-year-old female victim — who police said she lived with. But the victim is still recovering from his injuries, police said, and the bystander was not injured. No officers were injured and the seven who fired the shots have been placed on administrative leave pending the investigation.

According to Capt. Valerie Littlejohn, who narrates the video to provide additional context, police tried to defuse the situation and requested a ballistic shield and non-lethal equipment. The Oklahoman asked what de-escalation techniques were used, if the shield or non-lethal equipment ever arrived, or if a mental health facility was contacted or requested. Police did not respond to those questions at the time of publication.

OKC police video shows 77-year-old man shot, killed by police

police footage, which the police edited and posted on YouTube with a viewer discretion warningfirst show the view from a home security camera. Prince’s car is shown turning onto NW 123 Terrace, driving onto a sidewalk and into the yard of a house before turning onto the street.

Watch the video below:

The 75-year-old woman Prince shot is then seen hit by the car. The victim was thrown into the air by the impact before falling to the ground.

Minutes later, Prince crashed and disabled his vehicle near the intersection of NW 122 and MacArthur. Oak Grove Shopping Center can be seen in the background of the footage, which appears to be from a traffic camera at the intersection.

The footage shows another vehicle pulling up next to Prince’s car. The driver of the vehicle got out and walked to Prince’s door, where he appeared to speak to her before raising his hands and backing away from Prince’s vehicle, eventually falling to the ground. Police said Prince pointed his gun at the person, who then hid behind his car and called police.

The following footage is from aboard a police vehicle that arrived at the scene at 10:41 p.m. When officers arrived, Prince was sitting in her car. Officers can be heard asking the “PT Cruiser driver” to keep both hands up and out the window.

Three initial sets of gunshots are heard, which police said came from Prince’s vehicle while she was sitting in it. Then, a series of shots rang out after police said Prince pointed her gun at officers while in her car.

While Prince was in her vehicle, officers asked her several times to put down her gun. Four minutes after police arrived, Prince began to climb out of her vehicle, appearing unsteady on her feet.

Officers again asked Prince several times to “drop the weapon.” Instead, he stood between the door and the car, gun in hand.

Police said Prince pointed the gun at the officers, although the video shows Prince waving the gun in small circles rather than in a specific direction.

This lasted about 30 seconds before seven officers started shooting. The video cuts to Prince once the footage starts, but she is seen falling to the ground.

According to police, Prince was taken to an area hospital where she died from her injuries.
