The acquisition of Oura indicates the company’s ambitions

Oura announced that it has acquired Sparta Science, a health and wellness platform specializing in military projects.

Oura’s announcement reveals that it is looking to grow its Oura Business division and Oura Teams platform to “help us meet the specific needs of our partners.”

Sparta Science has its own data platform called Trinsic, and that seems to be the element Oura wants to expand on quickly.

We’ve heard quite a bit recently about Oura looking for B2B and lucrative deals announced with the Pentagon and Essence Healthcare.

The Pentagon deal, announced last month, is worth just $96 million in hardware sales. The terms of the deal also see Oura offer health coaching, and a robust platform would likely be key to making more of these huge projects happen.

The acquisition also adds Sparta’s technical team to Oura, enhancing its ability to deliver large-scale, data-driven health information.

Oura’s consumer play has been a huge success, and last month it announced it had sold 2.5 million smart rings. But Oura’s potential to translate that success into businesses could be even more lucrative.

The deal marks Oura’s third acquisition in two years. In September, it acquired Veri and quickly added meal tracking to the new app tweaks launched with Oura Ring 4 last month. In 2023, it bought the digital identity platform Proxy.
