Suspect of murder and shooting, sentenced to 25 years in prison

Nov. 6 — LOCKPORT — The third of three suspects in a deadly three-day string of robberies and shootings and a May 2022 homicide has been sentenced to more than two decades behind bars.

Niagara County Court Judge Caroline Wojtaszek sentenced Rohmelo K. Lewis, 24, of Falls, to 25 years in prison for his guilty pleas to charges of manslaughter, first-degree robbery and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon in a plea deal with Niagara County prosecutors.

Lewis’ plea in May came as he prepared to face a Niagara County Circuit Court jury following a grand jury indictment charging him with two counts of second-degree murder, four counts of of first-degree robbery, one count of second-degree assault and one count of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

As part of his plea, Lewis admitted to killing Cortez Galmore, who had recently moved to Falls, during an attempted robbery on May 3, 2022.

Wojtaszek previously convicted two of Lewis’ accomplices.

Isaiah J. Christian, 21, of Falls, previously pleaded guilty to manslaughter and first-degree robbery and was sentenced by Wojtaszek to 20 years in state prison. Shawn Bomberry, 20, who was not connected to Galmore’s death, pleaded guilty to attempted second-degree robbery and was sentenced to 2 years in prison.

The robberies and shootings, which mostly occurred between the early morning of May 3 and the early morning of May 5, left Falls residents living in fear.

Lewis had been a person of interest in the shooting death of Galmore in the 1000 block of Cedar Avenue late the night of May 4. He had previously been linked to three robberies and shootings in the early morning hours of May 5 and an incident. on the night of May 3.
