Medina Walmart arson suspect arrested in New York

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – Man charged with arson Walmart Supercenter in Medina on Monday, was arrested in New York state, according to police.

Jeremiah Q. Banto, 26, of Providence, Rhode Island, is charged with aggravated arson and grand larceny, court records show.

The fire caused the Walmart on Pearl Road to temporarily close Monday afternoon.

Police said Banto also stole a vehicle from a used car lot in Medina Township on Nov. 4.

He is currently being held in Chautauqua, New York, awaiting extradition to Medina County to face charges of arson and vehicle theft, according to Medina Township Police Department.
