Ford EcoBoost “wet belt” problem

Perhaps the biggest cause for concern was a major recall in North America in 2024 related to the “wet belt” EcoBoost system. Over 130,000 Ford Focus and Ford EcoSport vehicles with the 1.0L EcoBoost and automatic transmission have been recalled for a problem with the belt that drives the oil pump, known as a wet belt.

The same engine and gearbox configuration was offered in the Focus, EcoSport and Fiesta in the UK. Although there have been several reports of problems with this engine and gearbox combination in the UK, Ford has yet to announce a recall here.
