2024 Election Live Updates: Kamala Harris and Donald Trump Enter Finals Ahead of Election Day

Officials in several Pennsylvania counties continue to investigate potentially fraudulent voter registration applications because Trump made some misleading or false claims about the incident.

Authorities in Lancaster, Berks, Monroe and York counties are investigating thousands of voter registration applications they say are potentially fraudulent, according to various state officials. Amid ongoing investigations, some of the apps have been confirmed to be fraudulent, while some have been determined to be legitimate, according to updates.

Yet as recently as last week, Trump said Lancaster County was “captured … by 2,600 votes.”

“They found, as I understand it, I don’t know what happened in the last day or so, but they in Lancaster found 2,600 ballots, all made by the same hand,” Trump said Sunday in Pennsylvania. .

But according to Pennsylvania’s attorney general, Trump’s characterization is untrue. In a statement last week, the state’s top attorney, Michelle Henry, said the “investigations are about voter registration forms, not ballots.”

On Monday, Lancaster County officials also updated that of the approximately 2,500 applications investigated, more than half were confirmed to be valid. According to Lancaster County Commissioner Ray D’Agostino, 57 percent of the claims have been verified, 17 percent have been determined to be fraudulent, and 26 percent are still under investigation and are either incomplete or unverified.

D’Agostino stressed that the investigation with the prosecutor’s office is still ongoing. “We take this very seriously,” he said.

In York County, officials said last week that their investigation of a batch of 3,087 applications resulted in 47 percent being “verified as legitimate” and approved, 29 percent incomplete and pending, and 24 percent were rejected and are being investigated by the DA.

Election officials emphasized that this alleged fraud was controlled and stopped — and they say the court highlights the effectiveness of the system. Henry said the fraud attempts “were defeated.”

“These attempts were thwarted by existing safeguards in Pennsylvania,” Henry said in his statement last week.
