Voters are talking about the law that prevents political attire near the polls

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Mina Fernandez is an activist, she says she knows she has to cover her political affiliation, even when she goes to the bathroom.

“I have to put on a sweater or have a jacket,” Fernandez said.

The purple line marks 100 meters from the polling place and anyone crossing in political attire would face a possible $500 fine.

“Realistically, I don’t think seeing someone wearing a political shirt past this line is going to change my vote, I mean most voters should have already made up their minds,” said voter Francisco Magallanez.

But one person who did not want to be on camera said they were keeping quiet.

“Because you hear stories where there are incidents where people are yelling, getting aggressive, even getting physical,” they said.

On Thursday, police arrested a voter accused of punching an election clerk after being told to remove his MAGA hat.

A sign notifying voters of the state law is clearly displayed at the polling place.

However, one thing everyone I spoke to could agree on was the size of the sign.

“First of all, the sign should be bigger, it’s not visible.”

“If you hadn’t told me, I don’t think I would have known there was a hundred foot limit.”

“So the sign is very small, it’s not very detailed,” campaign agent Shelly Grunden said.

The law also raised questions about free speech for some voters.
