Deion Burks, Jalil Farooq could return for OU vs Missouri football

NORMAN – OU football Coach Brent Venables didn’t offer much detail when asked about EarlierMonday night’s injury situation during the weekly coaches show, indicating the SEC student-athlete availability report, which releases its initial report Wednesday.

However, Venables said he hopes some of OU’s injured receivers are close to returning, adding the timing for Deion Burks he was not right last week.

“There’s definitely a chance,” Venables said when asked about Burks and Jalil Farooqhis availability against Missouri on Saturday.

Farooq underwent surgery after breaking his leg against Temple on 30 August. He was expected to miss six to eight weeks initially, but missed nine.

Burks has missed the Sooners’ last five games after suffering a soft tissue injury against Tennessee. Burks was a game decision to play against South Carolina, he was “day-to-day” during Oh miss week, but he’s not ready to go back yet.

Venables said the wide receiver injuries Brennan Thompson and defensive end Adepoju Adebawore suffered in last week’s win against Maine are not expected to be “long-term.”
