“Just after 12:00 p.m., an officer with the Richmond Police Department was on his way to the Richmond Justice Center in the parking lot when the officer heard what sounded like a gunshot,” said Richmond Police Department spokesman James Merchant. “He went to investigate and in the corner of the Justice Center parking lot was an adult male who was down and unresponsive.”

There were other people in the area at the time of the shooting.

“(Detectives) received information from people who were nearby and of course they will collect any video,” Mercante said. “There are no suspects in custody at this time. They have some information to go on.”

Anyone with information was asked to call Crime Stoppers at 804-780-1000.
