A man from St. Clair Shores charged after allegedly trying to run over Harris campaign workers – The Oakland Press

A 55-year-old man from St. Clair Shores was charged in connection with an incident outside the VFW Bruce Post on Jefferson Avenue where presidential campaign materials were being distributed.

On Oct. 12, Jason Lynch Lafond allegedly went to a tent in the VFW parking lot looking for campaign materials for presidential candidate Donald Trump. A volunteer working at the tent explained that it was a Harris/Walz presidential campaign tent that day.

Lafond allegedly shouted derogatory insults, including those aimed at sexual orientation. He also said that when Trump wins, he will “exterminate” people like them. Lafond returned to his vehicle and sped toward the volunteers, who had to jump out of the way to avoid being hit.

Lafond fled the scene.

Police Department St. Clair Shores identified the man after a thorough investigation.

The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office charged Lafond with three counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, a four-year felony, and three counts of ethnic intimidation, a two-year felony.
