Call to Freedom Receives Bush Foundation Award to Help Sex Trafficking Survivors

RAPID CITY, SD (KOTA) – The Community Foundation of South Dakota has awarded a grant to the Bush Foundation of South Dakota for Call to Freedom, a non-profit organization that seeks to help survivors of sex trafficking and ultimately end it the South Dakota issue.

Call to Freedom’s mission is to incorporate and elevate the voices of survivors. Survivors are involved in designing and providing feedback on their care. They seek to provide comprehensive support services for those affected while creating prevention, education and awareness.

Since its creation in 2016, Call to Freedom has helped more than 1,400 survivors of human trafficking. It also includes training thousands of service professionals, first responders and community members on how to identify and respond to human trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation.

The organization has helped equip thousands of young people with prevention education. This includes building South Dakota’s only accredited safe housing for adult female survivors and their children, Casa Marissa.
