Trump, Vance, Walz in Michigan • Lions control NFC North • Quincy Jones dead at 91

After months of grueling campaigning in an era of hyper-partisanship, voters and candidates have reached the final day of the 2024 election.

And it’s in Michigan where three of the presidential and vice presidential nominees will spend time, underscoring both the value of the state’s 15 electoral votes and the state’s potential to break either way come season’s end.

Republican Vice Presidential Candidate JD Vance will be the first to make an appearance, holding a rally in Flint in the early afternoon. Mid-Michigan’s districts aren’t the most populous, but their voters aren’t uniform either, and they could vote either way.

Democratic Vice Presidential Nominee Tim Walz will make his last stop of the campaign in Detroit. He will campaign with his wife Gwen Walz later Monday night.

Finally, in an attempt to capture the magic of his successful 2016 run, Donald Trump will return to the site since his last campaign he stopped three elections in a row in Grand Rapids.

The late-night campaign rally will be Trump’s last stop before Election Day and the polls open.

Democratic nominee Kamala Harris it has already made its last stop in Michiganrallying student voters in East Lansing Sunday night.

More than three million people have already voted, with about two-thirds of those absentee ballots. Clerks spent the past week pre-processing those ballots while other election workers helped oversee early voting.

The Detroit Lions control the division

Lions fans entered another week with their heads held high after defeating the Packers during a rainy game at Lambeau Field in Green Bay and firm control of the NFC North division.

If they were to lose, there would be questions about tiebreakers and whether the team can compete for the all-important postseason bye. They already had an off week earlier this year, so the next break they’ll see won’t come until a potential playoff run.

Instead, they are undefeated against their division rivals after beating both the Packers and Minnesota Vikings at home. A six-game winning streak isn’t bad either.

And it happened despite an injured defensive line and the rate of star sophomore wide receiver Jameson Williams, who is expected to return to the team when they face the Houston Texans. A high-scoring matchup with one of the best in the AFC, the game is scheduled for Sunday night.

Quincy Jones, the legendary producer and songwriter, has died at the age of 91

Quincy Jones, a music mogul whose career in the industry spanned over seven decades, died Sunday evening at the age of 91his publicist Arnold Robinson confirmed to Fox News Digital.

Jones was surrounded by his children, siblings and immediate family at his home in Bel Air, California. No further details about his death will be released at this time as the family requests privacy “during this time of great grief,” Robinson said.

The following statement was provided from the Jones family:

“Tonight, it is with a heavy but broken heart that we must share the news of the passing of our father and our brother Quincy Jones. And while this is an incredible loss for our family, we celebrate the great life he lived and know there will never be another loss. like him, he is truly unique and will be greatly missed, we feel comforted and proud to know that the love and joy that was the essence of his being was shared with the world through all that he created. Through his music and his boundless love, Quincy Jones’ heart will beat for eternity.”

Gas prices rise 4 cents

Gas prices rose slightly this week, up 4 cents from where they were seven days ago. Michigan drivers pay an average of $3.16 per gallon, with metro region prices at that level.

Things get a little more expensive in Jackson and Ann Arbor and a little cheaper in Traverse City and Flint. AAA in Dearborn says gas prices are still lower than this time last month.

Gas demand rose slightly across the country, while available gas stocks fell by several million barrels.

“Increasing demand, along with declining gas inventories, is causing some Michigan drivers to see slightly higher prices at the pump,” said Adrienne Woodland, spokeswoman, AAA-The Auto Club Group.

AP: What to expect in Michigan on Election Day

Michigan could play a decisive role in a third straight presidential election as its voters decide competitive races that could tip the balance of power in both houses of Congress as well as the state House of Representatives.

The Associated Press does not make projections and will only declare a winner when it has determined there is no scenario that allows the trailing candidates to close the gap. If a race has not been called, AP will continue to cover any newsworthy developments, such as candidate concessions or victory declarations. By doing so, the AP will clarify that it has not yet declared a winner and explain why.

Although polls in most of the state close at 8:00 PM ET, the AP will not call a winner until the last polls close at 9:00 PM ET. In the 2022 gubernatorial elections, AP had recorded about 8% of the total votes by the time the last polls closed in the state.

Mike Wolfe held Frank Fritz’s hand as his ‘American Pickers’ co-star took his last breath

“American Pickers” star. Mike Wolfe spoke of his last moments with Frank Fritz before his late colleague’s death.

The 60-year-old TV personality and Fritz were childhood friends who co-hosted the History Channel series for 10 years and had known each other for more than 40 years.

The two had a falling out and Fritz walked away from the show during the 21st season in 2020. However, they were able to repair their friendship before Fritz died of complications from a stroke at age for 60 years in September.

In an interview with people magazine, Wolfe recalled how he rushed to be with Fritz before his death. “I got the call that he wasn’t doing well. I feel blessed that I was able to get there,” Wolfe said.
