The tropical system targets the Gulf of Mexico

BALTIMORE — *All information current as of Sunday evening, November 3.*

Potential Tropical Cyclone 18 has formed off the coast of Colombia. It will head northwest by this week. The National Hurricane Center’s latest forecast calls for the tropical system to strengthen into a tropical storm by Monday. It could eventually become a Category 1 hurricane sometime early Wednesday morning. If it can become a tropical storm, it would be called Rafael.

Jamaica would be first in the path of this storm. The next day Cuba. The end of the NHC forecast would bring Rafael into the Gulf of Mexico around Thursday. There’s a lot of uncertainty as to whether the United States might see any effects, but it’s certainly one to watch.
