Police have launched a homicide investigation after a woman died following a domestic violence incident in Auckland on Sunday night.

Emergency services were called to Brandon Road, Glen Eden at 11.08pm.

Waitemata CIB Detective Senior Sergeant Kim Libby said a woman was found with multiple stab wounds in a critical condition.

She was taken to the hospital, but died a short time later.

“A 33-year-old man was arrested at the scene and charged with her murder.”

Police were not looking for anyone else in connection with the death, Libby said.

The man was due to appear in the Waitākere District Court on Monday.

Police wanted to hear from anyone with information or who may have been in the area last night.

A cordon remained in place and an examination of the scene was underway, Libby said.

“An increased police presence will remain in the area while inquiries are carried out, however we do not believe there is any ongoing risk to the public.”
