Follow the Pittsburgh Steelers trade rumors ahead of Tuesday’s deadline

The Pittsburgh Steelersthe quest to add an upgrade at wide receiver continues. After the team failed in their attempt to land San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk during the offseason, the team also dealt veteran wide receiver Davante Adams last month.

The Steelers saw a definite improvement in the passing game when they inserted Russell Wilson into the lineup over Justin Fields, but if Pittsburgh truly wants to reach its ceiling, the team needs to provide help to Wilson and the No. 1 receiver George Pickens.

But CEO Omar Khan is running out of time to bring in reinforcements as the deadline falls on Tuesday, November 5 at 4pm ET. And, the options have already dwindled, and that will only get worse the longer Khan waits.

Conformable ESPN’s Adam SchefterThe Steelers are calling about “any and all” wide receivers that are available, but he specifically mentions two names: Carolina PanthersAdam Thielen and New York JetsMike Williams.

“The Steelers made calls and checked out all available receivers before Tuesday’s trade deadline at 4 p.m. ET, including Mike Williams of the Jets and Adam Thielen of the Panthers, according to league sources,” he wrote. “The Steelers will continue to push in an attempt to improve at the deadline, but they are far from the only team looking to position themselves better for the second half of the season.”

While that doesn’t matter much now, Schefter adds that the Steelers had a deal for Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Christian Kirk in action before suffering a season-ending broken collarbone. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport echoes that report.

The Steelers have also been linked to Williams in a previous rumor, with the previous report saying that The Steelers and Jets were in talks about the veteran wide receiver, but cut them off before the Week 7 matchup.

Thielen is certainly a new name when it comes to players linked to the Steelers through rumors.

The 34-year-old is currently returning from a stint on injured reserve with a hamstring injury. He had his The 21-day window has opened on October 23, so it has time to be activated. Thielen logged two limited practice sessions this week, so he appears to be getting closer.
