The further trial of five people jointly charged with the murders of 15-year-old Mason Rist and 16-year-old Max Dixon has been in the headlines this week.

The boys died after being attacked outside Mason’s home in Knowle West, Bristol, on January 27.

On Tuesday, alleged ‘getaway driver’ Anthony Snook, 45, told Bristol Crown Court that he He “knew of no plan” to kill the boys.

Bristol Live’s Tristan Cork reported Thursday that the four teenagers charged in the boys’ murders would not testify at trial.

Chad Lambert was arrested on a small island in Eastville Park after trying to escape from the police

Bristol Live also covered the story of a thief who was jailed this week after trying to evade the police by swimming across a lake.

Reporter Toby Codd said Chad Lambert, 35, from Bristol, stole a bottle of wine from a shop in Eastville before dumping his clothes and bag in Eastville Park and swimming to a small island from the middle of the lake.

The fire service provided a boat for police to reach the island and arrest Lambert.

He was sentenced to 26 weeks in prison and ordered to pay £154 compensation by Bristol Magistrates’ Court.

Two people were arrested in connection with the event

An illegal rave at the old Wickes building in Bristol caused a lot of interest on the Bristol Reddit thread.

Two people were arrested and two vans loaded with sound equipment were seized after the unlicensed music event in Ashton on October 26.

Avon and Somerset Police said they understood the public’s frustration that the music was not turned off at 09:00 GMT on Sunday, but said they did not have the numbers of officers needed to complete the event earlier.

Several posts echoed the idea that raves should be held in remote locations away from residential areas to “benefit everyone – including the ravers.”

Somerset Live’s Shannon Brown reported on the moment Milosz Sobiechowski, 22, “intervened in an accident involving parked cars and injured a bystander who suffered minor injuries”.

PC Beales, road policing officer, condemned the incident, adding: “Sobiechowski’s actions were incredibly dangerous and it is fortunate that there were no serious injuries.”

Sobiechowski was this week banned from driving for 12 months and ordered to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work following the incident on September 30, 2023.

Theft of 22 tons of cheddarworth over £300,000, from London cheese specialist Neal’s Yard Dairy, made headlines for Somerset Live.

Regional content editor Howard Lloyd quoted Tom Calver, director of Westcombe Dairy, which produced some of the stolen cheese, as saying: “I was very concerned about what it was and the implications of it.

“What it shows, what I’m amazed at, is the value people place on these amazing artisan foods.”

Cheesemongers worldwide have been urged to contact the dairy if they suspect they have been offered the stolen cheese.

The stones come from Old Sarum, where the cathedral was based until it was moved in 1220.
