Stand-up comedian Utsav Dixit arrested for Porsche accident in Hyderabad

Comedian and businessman Ustav Dixit was arrested on Sunday over the Porsche accident at KBR Park in the city.

The Hyderabad police on Sunday said they have arrested 33-year-old Dixit, a resident of Banjara Hills.

He crashed the luxury car into the fence of KBR Park in Banjara Hills in the wee hours of Friday morning. He fled the scene after the accident.

The accident caused significant damage to the boundary wall, grates and pavement.

According to S Venkat Reddy, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Banjara Hills, the preliminary investigation revealed that the collision occurred due to reckless driving leading to loss of control of the vehicle.

The incident took place at around 5.45am and came to light after a citizen’s call to Dial 100 prompted patrol police to respond to the scene.

A suo-moto case was registered on the complaint by the police patrolling personnel that a red Porsche car collided with the boundary wall of KBR Park, hit a tree and caused severe damage to the wall, grills and pavement .

The police did not find the license plate on the car. Later, during searches, a broken license plate was found inside the car.

“The front portion and wheels of the car were damaged. The driver of the car escaped,” the police said in a statement.

The ACP said the accused was traced and arrested after verification of the available evidence and sent for alcohol and drug tests and other procedures as per legal provisions.

The police seized his driving license and sent it to the Road Transport Official (RTO) concerned for disqualification under Section 19 of the Motor Vehicles Act.

The police booked Dixit under various sections 110 (attempted culpable homicide) and 281 (rash driving) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (NSHita), section 184 (penalties for dangerous driving) of the Motor Vehicles Act and section 3 (wandering causing damage). public property) from the Law on the Prevention of Damage to Public Property (PDPP).

ACP said legal procedures are being followed to address both the material damage and Dixit’s alleged violations.
