Widespread snow is expected in southern Colorado through the work week

Forecast for tonight:
A few showers are still near the Colorado/New Mexico border, but most of us will stay dry tonight. Snow showers will be possible in the mountains this evening, but will not impact I-25 yet. Overnight temperatures will dip into the 30s for most of us. 50 years are expected in the area for Sunday.

Colorado Springs Forecast: Low: 33; High: 56;
Temperatures tonight will get into the 30s, but by tomorrow we’ll be back in the 50s. Tomorrow night we’ll start to see some showers heading up I-25, and that will turn to snow overnight. We will see the snow start at higher elevations and make its way into the Springs. Closer to AFB, they could see anywhere from 2-4″. Closer to Fountain, it would probably be closer to a trace.

Population Forecast: Low: 33; High: 64;
Pueblo will also get into the 30s tonight, but the 60s are expected for tomorrow. You guys will see more of a rain/snow mix and if any does accumulate it will be closer to a trail. Pueblo is at a much lower elevation and makes the snow more difficult to pass, especially with these temperatures.

Canon City Forecast: Low: 37; High: 59;
Canon City will turn 30 tonight. It’s 50 tomorrow, and the forecast looks similar to Pueblo’s. You guys will also see more of a rain/snow mix and if any does accumulate it will be closer to a trail.

Woodland Park Forecast: Low: 26; High: 48;
Woodland Park will be chilly tonight with temperatures in the mid 20s. Tomorrow’s highs will only be reached in 40 years. Snow showers will begin in the evening and last through the night. By Monday morning, the snow will already have accumulated and will likely affect the roads.

Tri-Lakes Forecast: Low: 33; High: 51;
Tonight’s temperatures will drop into the low 30s and tomorrow’s temperatures will be in the 50s. The Tri-Lakes area will begin to see rain first and then a transition to snow. We will eventually see snow fall south on I-25.

Plain forecast: Low: upper 30s/lower 40s; High: the 60s;
Highs will be in the upper 30s/low 40s for this evening. A few showers have been spotted on radar, but should move out of the state overnight. Starting tomorrow temps will be in the 60’s. We could see a few scattered showers tomorrow night but then increasing overnight and into Monday. La Junta and Springfield have the best chance of seeing a wintry mix and potentially snow. If something sticks, it will be closer to a trail.

Walsenburg and Trinidad Forecast: Low: 36; High: 57/60;
Walsenburg and Trinidad will reach the mid-30s for tonight, and upper 50s/60s are expected tomorrow. As for this storm system, we will see some rain showers late Sunday night and early Monday morning. We will then switch to snow early Monday morning. This will likely affect your morning commute, so plan accordingly.

Mountain Forecast: Low: under 20 years; High: upper 40s/lower 50s;
Winter storm watches are in effect for the Ude and Sangres Mountains. Anything above 11,000 feet will see several inches of snow and it will be heavy at times. We are currently seeing snow showers (at 10pm Saturday) and this will continue overnight. Heavy snow will begin to pick up once this storm system makes its way here by tomorrow. Snow will begin earlier and likely last throughout the day. The mountain passes will be difficult to travel.

Extended forecast:
Looking beyond this storm system, Election Day looks to be sunny and warmer. The roads could still be a bit muddy, so be careful if you go to the polls.

Wednesday brings even bigger changes, and this storm system could have a bigger impact than what we’ll see on Monday. This system appears to be stalling across the state, which could cause some higher snow totals. This is still being worked out and things may change before we get to that point.
