Man convicted of murder for money in Sterling Heights – Macomb Daily

A man has been convicted of manslaughter in the shooting death of a Sterling Heights man and a lesser charge in the nonfatal shooting of a second man in a separate incident, according to court records.

James Deshawn Williams, 51, faces life in prison at his sentencing Feb. 6 by Judge Terrence Berg in U.S. District Court in Detroit after being convicted of self-inflicted murder and conspiracy to commit murder for the 2016 death of Marko Berishaj, 28, who was shot while sitting in a vehicle near his home in the Golfpointe Village condominiums at Plumbrook and Schoenherr roads.

Williams was hired to commit the murder. No one else has been charged.

Williams and another man followed Berishaj to his home, where police responded to a report of shots fired at 3:30 a.m. Nov. 9, 2016, and found he had been shot in the chest, according to U.S. Attorneys. He was later pronounced dead at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Clinton Township.
