KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – More than a dozen non-compliant sex offenders were found in the Kansas City area during Halloween law enforcement efforts.

The US Marshals Service says that between Oct. 1 and 28, agents worked with more than 110 law enforcement agencies in 22 states for Operation Trick or Treat 2, an initiative designed to investigate and arrest non-compliant and fugitive sex offenders during the hunting season. Halloween.

In total, law enforcement officials indicated that 331 arrests were made nationwide. This includes 129 unrecorded arrests, 74 arrests for sex offenses and 128 other arrests for various criminal activities. Approximately 3,334 sex offender compliance checks were conducted and 40 illegal firearms were seized.

Marshals in the Western District of Missouri said they are focusing on criminals in Kansas City, St. Joseph and Springfield. Compliance checks were also conducted in Buchanan and Greene counties.

“Operation Trick or Treat 2 reaffirms one of our agency’s highest priorities to ensure the safety of children in our communities,” said Director Ronald L. Davis of the US Marshals Service. “I applaud the women and men of the Marshals Service and all agencies that participated in this operation.”

In total, agents indicated that 660 addresses were checked. Of those, 14 state violations were found, as well as one federal violation. All cases were prosecuted.
